Hiring Unit: Teaching & Learning (Nahum Gelber Law Library) Reports to: Head Librarian Hour of work : 15 hours Hourly Rate: $16.20 Duration : May 1st – August 30th, 2025 *** The position is open to McGill undergraduate students only. Preference for McGill students eligible for Work Study will be given. Please indicate your faculty and program, your current year and expected graduation date, and include the confirmation of eligibility when applying. Position Summary: The student will participate in two major collections projects at the Nahum Gelber Law Library: the move of the British Parliamentary papers from the Law Library to the Humanities and Social Sciences Library, and the shifting of the collections on the 4th and 5th floors. The move of the Law books will involve moving and packing of the items. The shifting of the collection of the 4th and 5th floors involves moving the books to another floor to create more study spaces on the 5th floor. Tasks: Move items from the British Parliamentary papers, the 4th and 5th floors and ensure that they are in order. Pack books to send them to another library. Change deficient barcodes and call number labels. Perform other duties as assigned Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities: Demonstrated organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to clearly transmit and receive information. Demonstrated ability to cope with physical requirements: moving and lifting weights of up to 20kgs, handling dusty library materials, shelving and shifting books, bending, working while standing.
